When the iconic surf brand, Reef, added two new styles to their Coastal Cruisers Collection, the Reef Outhaul and the Reef Ridge, we just had to give them a try.

But wearing shoes don’t come easy when you’re use to days in the water or on the beach. So asking one of the ExPix team to abandon his flip flops to try out the new styles from Reef took some persuading!
Stylish but simple, both the Outhaul and Ridge are made of high quality premium, heavy gauge canvas and suede with detailed stitching and printed collars.

Both have cushioned wax padded arched insoles which are specially designed for comfort and an added mechanism to cope with those ‘putrid pedes’. But if the stench gets too much, the insoles can be removed for a through blasting in the washer!

The soles are made of moulded rubber with ‘swellular traction’ to prevent slipping.

So what did our tester think of them?

“I order the right size but found the shoes a little difficult to get on initially. Opening up the laces fully did the trick and within no time my feet were cocooned in comfort.

The shoes are easy to wear with every detail seeming to be designed with comfort and style in mind. The canvas is strong but flexible and the padded collar sits nicely on the foot, especially on the high tops of the Outhaul which give added support.

And as for the insoles; they are just amazing. The soles are great too, good traction for gripping and perfect for boarding.

All in all two really great pair of shoes and at £55 for the Reef Outhaul and £50 for the Ridge, they’re not too badly priced either.”
